Life in full bloom at Bloomdale

October 21, 2019 | IN Media Release and News | BY Holly Brennan | 2 min read

On Sunday 13 October, the green thumbs of Diggers Rest gathered at AVID Property Group’s (AVID) Bloomdale community for a free gardening workshop.

Bunnings Sunbury delivered an interactive seminar to inspire residents to spend more time in their gardens this spring. Horticulture experts shared this season’s gardening trends before workshopping ideas with attendees about what to grow in the warmer months, soil quality and how to ensure plants flourish in the Melbourne climate.

AVID Property Group General Manager Victoria Peter Vlitas said the annual workshop was designed to promote wellbeing amongst residents and foster community spirit.

“Our yearly gardening workshop helps bring the community together, providing an opportunity for neighbours to meet and socialise,” Mr Vlitas said.

“Gardening is great for overall wellbeing; it supports physical activity, good mental health and can even increase the consumption of healthy fruit and vegetables amongst backyard growers.

“This is the fourth year we’re hosting our gardening event and we’re really looking forward to inspiring residents to create beautiful gardens for their new homes.”

The local Diggers Rest Football and Netball Club provided a free sausage sizzle lunch for workshop participants and goodie bags with sample products from Bunnings were provided to eager gardeners.
