Next phase of Harmony’s Grand Linear Park set to open in the new year

December 13, 2019 | IN Media Release and News | BY Holly Brennan | 3 min read

Construction on the fast-tracked second phase of Harmony by AVID Property Group’s (AVID) Grand Linear Park, is more than halfway complete and is expected to open at the start of 2020.

The new phase of the Grand Linear Park has been designed for Harmony’s smallest adventurers, with the playground catering specifically to toddlers and children as young as two-years old.

AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said it was important to AVID to have a variety of green and open spaces in each of its communities as a part of its strategy to help encourage community engagement and this phase is the next step in achieving this at Harmony.

“Construction on the second phase of the Grand Linear Park is now more than 50 per cent complete and we expect it will be ready for our youngest residents to use in January 2020,” Mr Harper said.

The one-hectare phase will feature a range of innovative play equipment including a treehouse, elevated connected walkways, a slide and a climbing tower, all designed to encourage active play.

“This section of the park will be perfect for young families, with a playground, beautiful greenery, open lawns and places to relax and watch the kids have a great time.

“The second phase of the linear park will ensure that even our youngest residents and families have access to active play areas that challenge their imagination.”

The configuration and design of Harmony ensures that 90 per cent of residents live within 250 metres of a park and that each neighbourhood is connected to its 60km network of pedestrian path and cycle ways.

“It’s vital that kids have a place to play and run around close to home – to encourage them to get outdoors, make friends, and enjoy the Sunshine Coast climate,” Mr Harper said.

“To ensure this, every home in Harmony is within easy walking distance of a park.

According to a recent resident survey, conducted by AVID, 89 per cent of current and soon-to-be residents confirmed that when choosing a place to live, they wanted a location which would contribute to a life of health and wellbeing – emphasising the importance of open and active spaces within close proximity to their homes.

“Once complete, the Grand Linear Park will span five hectares through the centre of Harmony and will be connected the community’s network of pathways – inspiring families to get outside and be active, without making exercise feel like chore.”

The first phase of Harmony’s Grand Linear Park opened in August 2018 and has since become a hub for the growing community, which is set to welcome its 1,000th family by the end of 2019.
