Slab down on Build it for the Kids home in Harmony

November 14, 2019 | IN Media Release and News | BY Holly Brennan | 3 min read

AVID Property Group (AVID) and Murphy Homes are one step closer to delivering its home for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s Build it for the Kids project, with the concrete slab officially poured this week.

On Wednesday 13 November, Bruce and Denise Morcombe joined AVID Development Manager Anthony Demiris and Murphy Homes Director Brooke Bastien to celebrate the significant project milestone – ahead of the home’s frames going up on Thursday 14 November.

Bruce Morcombe – co-founder of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation – said the home in AVID’s Harmony community in Palmview, would be auctioned to help support the Foundation in delivering its child safety education and counselling services to the Sunshine Coast community.

“It is exciting to see that the Build it for the Kids project is well-underway – the Sunshine Coast construction industry is truly backing this project and the real winners are the kids,” Mr Morcombe said

“The profits from the sale will be spent locally, on therapeutic care for young victims of crime.”

The project will see Murphy Homes build and auction a home in the centre of AVID’s Harmony community in Palmview – just off the Grand Linear Park – with proceeds from the sale going directly to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

AVID Development Manager Anthony Demiris said AVID and the Harmony team were incredibly excited to be joining forces with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and Murphy Homes to raise much needed funds for the Foundation.

“Today, is a very exciting milestone for the project – especially with the pouring of the slab this week and the frames going up tomorrow, we are now one step closer to having a home built and ready for auction.

“The future residents will be able know that the proceeds of their new home went directly to supporting local young people and children on the Sunshine Coast.”

Murphy Homes Director Brooke Bastien said more than 50 local and state-wide businesses had already pledged their support for the project.

“The support and donations we have received from local and regional businesses has been wonderful – our sponsors know the value of the work Bruce and Denise Morcombe are doing to protect children in the community and want to be able to help,” Ms Bastien said.

“It’s certainly a labour of love and we are humbled by how many trades and suppliers have stepped up to assist with the project.”
